Beard Transplantation

beard Transplantationis is a nonsurgical procedure at which hair is taken from one part of the body and transplanted into the beard.

It is a procedure that restores hair to areas where hair growth on the face is weak or missing. While the most common implementation of this procedure in the Beard, Goatee, sideburns and mustache . It can also be also done in the face to hide acne scars and other types of scars.

The loss of facial hair may occur for a number of reasons. It can be due to genetic factor, laser hair removal, surgery, burns or injury. The objective of this procedure varies between covering limited area to Full area, (Goatee or full beard). The process can be made in areas where there is no hair or areas where the hair is weak and much more density is required.

The number of hair grafts needed

The required number of hair grafts required for beard transplant varies according to the targeted area, but on average it shall be as follows:

• 350-500 grafts to grow a mustache.
• 600-700 for  Goatee Transplant
• 200-250 for sideburns.
• 300-700 for growing spaces in beard.
• 1500-2500 for a full beard.
• Some patients may ask for larger number if they wish to have more density .

Beard Transplantation Procedure

Like hair transplant in the head,  the donor hair of beard transplant comes from back area or sides of the head. Transplantable hair are selected and picked up carefully to be the closest possible to beard hair. Sometimes it’s the back area of the head has the best donor hairs while in some other times the sides will be better.

The transplanted hair will be permenant and looks exactly like the original hair where the beard will be consistent with the skin texture of the face, and it can be shaved as usual shaving razor machine shaving or blade.

The donor area of beard transplantation

For facial hair, the donating area will be back area of the head, in which the hair will be chosen to give the same characteristics of the beard and its texture.

Implant channels are very carfully made in the face in order not to leave any traces or scars. The accomplishments of beard transplant needs accuracy, patience and a great experience in order to make quite natural appearance.

Beard Transplantation Procedure

the procedure performed usually under local anesthesia or a sedative by mouth, depending on the choice of the patient. The process lasts 3-6 hours, after which the patient needs to recover for 5 days after the operation in which a small scaps in transplanted hair may appear. The implanted area must remain completely dry.

In the secound day after procedure, the patient will be able to travel to his country and resume normal activities where the traces of the process may remain on the face of at least the first 3-4 days.

Transplanted hair fall out in about two weeks after procedure, then it begins to grow within three months, and will continue to grow new hair till 14 months following the procdure.

Risks and results

Similar to FUE hair transplant, there is no risks in having beard transplant, or no effect or scars left, but the patient has to be committed to the instructions of the doctor after the operation.
